NEW VERSION with improved video & sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6Eecd2uj80 Reupload of a previously uploaded film, in one piece instead of multiple parts. Public domain film from the National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marksman A marksman is a person who is skilled in precision, or a sharpshooter shooting, using projectile weapons, such as with a rifle but most commonly with a designated marksman rifle and/or a sniper rifle, to shoot at long range targets. The main difference between a marksman and a normal sniper is that a marksman is usually considered an organic part of a team of soldiers, whereas regular snipers tend to work alone or with other snipers. In the military, marksmen are sometimes attached to an infantry squad where they take accurate long-range shots at valuable targets as needed, thus extending the reach of the squad. Another term for a marksman is a sharpshooter, which was used in the early 19th Century. It is derived from the German word Scharfschütze... The terms 'marksman' and 'sharpshooter' are often used interchangeably with the term 'sniper' (as often in history) within paramilitary counter-terrorism teams such as SWAT, since only a select few use long-range sniper rifles while the majority are armed with close quarter combat submachine guns... In the United States Army and Marine Corps, the marksmanship of the soldiers are ranked based on their skill: marksman-sharpshooter-expert. Holders of each level wear qualification badges below their ribbons with bars for the weapons they qualify in. In the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard, full-sized medals are only issued at the expert level. Both services award separate medals for pistol and rifle proficiency. The United States Air Force gives just a ribbon for qualifying at the expert level, although a bronze star can be earned if the wearer qualifies on both of these types of small arms. This sequence comes from organized, competitive shooting where it was first created. Some civilian shooting organizations still use the same terms for classification purposes. However, the terms are not consistent between the military and civilians. Within the United States military, a marksman in the U.S. Army is referred to as "Squad Designated Marksman" (SDM), and a marksman in the Marines is called a "Designated Marksman" (DM)...

Michael Volkin: In Basic training you're going to do a lot of marching and facing movements. Let's review some of the most common facing movements here. Let's start with the position of attention. To come to attention: bring the heels together and ensure the feet are at a forty five degree angle, keep the legs straight; without locking the knees. And the body is erect with the chest lifted, back arched and shoulders square and even. Arms hang straight down along the body without stiffness. Wrists are straight with the forearms, place thumbs which are resting along the first joint of the forefinger, along the seams of the trousers. Hands are cupped but not clinched as a fist, with palms facing away. The weight of the body rests equally on the heels and balls of both feet. Silence and immobility are required. Let's move on to two common facing movements. Left face and right face. Most drill commands have two parts: The preparatory command and the command of execution. The preparatory command states the movement to be carried out and mentally prepares the recruit for it's execution. On the command 'left face', the preparatory command is 'left'. The command of execution tells us when the movement is to be carried out. In left face the command of execution is 'face'. The facing movement 'left face' is always given from the position of attention, and directs the recruit towards the left ninety degrees. The facing movement 'right face', is always given from the position of attention and directs the recruit to the right ninety degrees. A more complicated but common facing movement is the movement 'about face'. The command is 'about face'. Where 'about' is a preparatory command and 'face' is a command of execution. On the command of execution 'face', move the toe of the right foot to a point touching the marching surface, about half the length of the foot to the rear and slightly to the left of the left heel, rest most of the weight on the body of the heel of the left foot. And allow the right knee to bend naturally. Next turn to the right one hundred eighty degrees and the left heel on the ball of the right foot. Resuming the position of attention. The arms should remain at your sides as in the position of attention throughout this movement. This movement is difficult to do at first so practice a couple dozen times before leaving for basic training.

The ideal life would be to just lounge, relax, and enjoy what life has to offer. Unfortunately, bills have to be paid, and the only way to get the money to do that is to get a job. Depending on where you are in life, you might be working in fast food, retail, childcare, or you might have even reached the corporate level of the workforce. If you enjoy your job, consider yourself lucky among millions of people who hate their jobs, don’t have a job at all, or work a dangerous job that makes death loom over them everyday. Don’t believe us? Here are ten of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Underground welders have a very dangerous job since they have to hang out underwater all day and every day with welding machines. Welding above water is dangerous enough as it is, but underwater includes a plethora of more risks. There is the risk of decompression sickness, shock, explosions, and wear and tear on dental fillings. Annually, out of 200 workers, about 30 lose their lives on the job. You can bet that the benefits for the grieving families should be decent. Crab fisherman have a risky job being 26 times more dangerous than the average job, with 128 workers dying in 2007. Causes of death includes being thrown overboard, drowning, and hyperthermia. If you have ever seen any of the reality shows with fishing, boating, and more, then these statistics aren’t a huge shock. Speaking of deaths by forces of nature, logging has become quite a dangerous job with the risk of equipment failure (getting injured from chainsaws) and getting crushed by falling trees. If you get antsy around heights, then you might want to avoid the steel working career. These are the guys who build multi story skyscrapers and spend their day hundreds of feet in the air. Today, steel workers now have harnesses to help avoid a deathly fall, but they are still quite at risk at their job with the risk of falling construction equipment and the risk of their harness failing. If you have ever looked at a bull rider and thought, “I’d like to try that,” then think again. While there are cash rewards for staying on a crazy bull for eight seconds, the risks outweigh the benefits with significant injuries about every 15 rides. Risks include getting crushed to death, stabbed by a bull’s horn, and other physical injuries. Prostitutes also have a mighty dangerous job with the risk of getting arrested, involved in drug use, exposure to STD’s and other diseases, plus the risk of getting beaten or killed. Then we have microchip manufacturers, who are exposed to the deadly chemicals used to make the chips, which studies have shown to have severe long term effects. Next time you feel like complaining about your job, perhaps take a moment to consider that it could be much worse than sitting behind a cash register or getting yelled at by an angry customer. --------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheRichest.org Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRichest_Com Instagram: http://instagram.com/therichest --------------------------------------------------------------- Featuring: Snake Milkers Underwater Welder Prostitutes Oil Riggers Steel Workers Crab Fisherman Bush Pilots Microchip Manufacturers Loggers Bull Riders --------------------------------------------------------------- Music Track: Lethal Projectile - Dan Skinner / Adam Skinner / Dave James --------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.therichest.com/

This is a video in 4K about the Annual Marine Corps Rifle Range qualification. I recently shot expert on the range and recorded and edited this video to give anyone who was curious some insight on what it is like and what the process is like. I really hope you enjoy this video and watch it to its completion. I really put a lot of effort into this and i hope you enjoy it. Make sure you watch in 4k! "Phase 2: Snap in/grass week During snap-in week, you're primarily in a classroom setting where you learn the four standard Marine Corps firing positions (standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone). This phase of your training isn't conducted by a drill instructor, but rather by a Marine who holds the MOS (job) of a Primary MarksmanshipInstructor (PMI). The PMI teaches you how to adjust your sights, how to adjust for weather conditions, and how to successfully hit what you're aiming at. During this phase of training, you actually get to fire a computerized version of your weapon, which will give you a good indication of how you'll do when youactually visit the firing range. Phase 3: Firing week During firing week, you actually get to fire your weapon for the first time. The week begins with practice on the firing range. Half of your platoon will firethe weapon, while the other half sets up targets. Then you swap. The course of fire includes shooting at targets that are 200, 300, and 500 yards away from the prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing positions. It's interesting to note that the Marine Corps is the only branch that has recruits shooting from distances as far as 500 yards away. At the end of the week, you get a chance to fire on the actual qualification course. The course is the same as the one you used in practice, but this time, it counts. If you fail to qualify, you won't proceed in basic training with the rest of your platoon. You'll be sent back to complete rifle instruction all overagain, thereby delaying your graduation date. In order to qualify, you fire a total of 50 rounds, worth up to 5 points each (depending on where you hit the target). The maximum possible points you can earn on this course is 250. To pass the course, you must earn at least 190 points, which will qualify you to wear the Marine Corps marksmanship badge. To become a sharpshooter, you must earn at least 210 points. In order to win status as an Expert, you must receive a score of at least 220 points."

"Swim call" is a rare treat that can sometimes be experienced on deployments out at sea. The military tradition allows sailors to take a breather and enjoy the open ocean as their own private swimming pool. These clips show some of the swim calls enjoyed by the US Navy and Marines, including leaps from some of the top decks. -------------------------------------------------- Follow BI Video on Twitter: http://bit.ly/1oS68Zs Follow BI on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1W9Lk0n Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/ -------------------------------------------------- Business Insider is the fastest growing business news site in the US. U.S. Marines with Delta Company, 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, fire from hull-down positions onto targets to gain control of the battlefield in support of Exercise STEEL KNIGHT aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California. The M1 Abrams is an American third-generation main battle tank produced by the United States. The M1 is well armed and heavily armored. Notable features include the use of a powerful gas turbine engine (multifuel), the adoption of sophisticated composite armor, and separate ammunition storage in a blow-out compartment for crew safety. Weighing nearly 68 short tons (almost 62 metric tons), it is one of the heaviest main battle tanks in service. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Abrams AiirSource℠ covers military events and missions from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. http://youtube.com/AiirSource Like & share this video to show your support for the troops!
